Security
Designed by renowed security technologist Bruce Schneier, this algorithm
involves passing over the storage device seven times. First with a bit pattern
of '00' and then with the bit pattern '11'. This is then followed by five
random passes, making recovery very difficult as the behavior of these random passes
cannot be recreated and reversed.
Time
In practice this algorithm takes significantly longer than the VSITR algorithm
as each random pass requires additional processing, in order to generate a random
bit pattern.
