Security
Created by the German Federal Office for IT, the Verschlusssachen-IT-Richtlinien
(VSITR) alogrithm involves overwriting data on a device seven times - each of the
first six times reversing the order of the bit pattern used. This results
in a destabilisation of any data remaining on the storage device. The final
pass then overwrites the entire storage device with the pattern '01010101', increasing
it's security. This method can be considered a suitably secure erasure method.
Time
This method will take a similar time to the DOD-5220 method
